Cambodia – Part Two

Tuesday 2nd January, 2007

The Border Crossing
Apart from getting completely ripped off by the Cambodian border officials (an extra $15 each?!) this was yet another easy border crossing. We arrived in Koh Kong, one of the ugliest border towns yet, and booked a bus for the following day to take us back to Sihanoukville…

Sihanoukville
Sihanoukville was pretty much the same as last time we were here although we did have a few days doing some new things… Jon and I (mainly Jon) created my first ever website which was very exciting, we decided that as I now know what I want to do for my career I should put up some examples: http://www.coolephotography.com

After sitting around doing nothing for a while Nico and I decided to go to some local villages to take a few photos of local life. As soon as we arrived we were swarmed by about ten children all pulling us in the direction of their houses. We had a wonderful morning sitting with them, attempting to talk and taking photos while they posed! A wanna-be photographer couldn’t ask for more!!

One of the best days we had was for Nico’s birthday; about 10 of us hired a boat for the day and went snorkelling and swimming near some islands, drank quite a lot and got a tan! We then had a big ‘black and white’ party that night and needless to say by 3am we were rather drunk! A perfect day with a great group of friends…

Christmas was also a fantastic day, although it was really hot and we were on a beach resort, we still managed to get Christmas carols, Christmas dinner and inevitably Christmas drinks!

Our New Year was also fantastic, for the most part we were on the beach watching the fireworks going off and getting very, very drunk! Lots of dancing and yet more drinking followed and before we knew it, it was 7.30am and we were running around the street dancing with tinsel, a very funny experience as I’m sure you can imagine… It was strange not being with all of you and stranger knowing that the next New Year together won’t be until New Year 09, that is unless you all want to come to Goa (India) for the next one!!!

Our time in Sihanoukville is drawing to an end for the second time and we’re going back to Bangkok for a few days soon before flying to Myanmar (Burma). We hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and look forward to hearing all about them!
