The Maldives

Sunday 5th February, 2006

Hello all and welcome to our first proper post! The Maldives were as stunning as we had hoped and much more, a fantastic start to a journey that we doubt will have much more luxury in it!!!

After the worst set of flights we have ever had we arrived at our resort completely knackered. Unfortunately Kim was still ill so as soon as we got to our room we fell asleep, for 19 hours!!! Oops, kinda missed a day there but never mind.

Kim’s birthday was celebrated over two days – her real birthday which she was very ill for and the unofficial birthday the day after. She was sung happy birthday to (causing much embarrassment) and a cake was bought over to a specially laid out table, very nice but being ill I don’t think you can appreciate it in the same way…

The unofficial birthday was fantastic, we got up early and watched the sunrise, had some breakfast, sunbathed for a while and Kim went for a facial at the Spa (another present!). We didn’t stay up too late as we were still in some sort of strange time zone but all in all a fantastic day!

We didn’t quite believe the pictures we had seen of the Maldives but rest assured that it is as stunning as they make out. One of the highlights was a 5 course lobster dinner watching the sunset, the most delicious meal we have ever had in the most beautiful surroundings.

The last day arrived and we decided to go back to the Spa; Jonny had a ‘Head, Back and Shoulders’ massage and Kim had a ‘Body Polish’ – a nice way to spend our remaining hours on our little island! Not much more to say really, it was stunning, we had a great time and we hope to go back one day!

It was lovely to see your photos, I’m glad Kim is as big an exhibitionist as her mummy! There are snowdrops and daffodils sprouting in Catonia. Frosty mornings and sunshine. I’m really glad you’re doing what you’re doing. We love you both. Abigail is in love with Daniel! G’ma got the all clear at the hospital. I’m struggling along with college. We are all well which is the main thing. Hope yu’re better, Kim. Please take care both of you and keep us posted. Loads of love from mummy, gran, Abi and Nick xxxxxxxxxxxx
